About the Artist
My name is Tricia Hampo. I have a BFA in Graphic Design and a Teaching Certificate in Art. This background has allowed me to try my hand in many different creative endeavors. However, I feel I have found my true passion in glass beadmaking. I have been interested in jewelry since my childhood “bead stands” (instead of lemonade, I sold beaded jewelry to the neighborhood kids). Eventually, a class at the local Arts Council led me to explore glass beadmaking also known as lampworking. I took my first Lampworking class with Kathleen Robinson (Burning Bead Studio in Berkley, MI) in March of 2003. Kathleen, my first fabulous teacher, told me I was, “a natural.” Since, I have taken classes with the "masters" such as Sylvie Lansdowne, Sharon Peters and Kimberly Affleck. I work (play) in my beautiful basement studio when I am not busy with my three amazing children and wonderful husband. I also enjoy playing tennis on a local league, gardening, scrapbooking, teaching 2nd grade religious education and family vacations at our new cottage on the lake in Irish Hills.
